2007-08 Season
January 3 - Defeated a senior-laden Centennial squad by the score of 40-28. All three seniors (David Dubiel, Mike
Terndrup and Ron Townsend) won in their final home match. David Martello (135) and Josh Hall (112) earned decisions,
as did Shawn Garrison, who scored a reversal and two nearfall in the last six seconds for the win. Albert Rozman (103),
Abe Chiappetta (119) and Alex Kegelmeyer (125) all secured falls in the victory.
December 27/28 - Finishing 5th (131 points) out of 24 teams, the youthful wrestlers placed six members on the medal stand.
Freshman Josh Hall (112) made the finals, while Ron Townsend (171) pinned his way to 3rd place. Albert Rozman
(103) and Christian Mayer (125) finished 4th, while David Martello (135-5th) and David Dubiel (140-6th) rounded out the placers.
December 20 - The Silver Knights split with CCL rivals, losing 37-36 to Bishop Watterson before upsetting Bishop Hartley
42-38. Ron Townsend (171) led the way with two pins.
December 15 - Albert Rozman (103) dominated his way to a tournament title at Bishop Watterson, as the team finished 5th
of ten squads. Josh Hall (4th), Christian Mayer (3rd), David Martello (5th) , Troy Gundefinger (5th) and Ron Townsend
(5th) all placed for the Silver Knights.
December 13- The Knights dropped a 40-36 dual match to Franklin Heights in their home opener. Shawn Garrison (145) wrestled
exceptionally, as did Christian Mayer (130) and Abe Chiappetta (119)
December 8 - At the Hamilton Township Classic, Albert Rozman was top lacer , finishing 3rd at 103 lbs. Seven other Knights
were top six, as the team placed 7th of ten.
2006-07 Season
February 23rd and 24th - DISTRICT TOURNAMENT - Halko earned a first round pin over Martins-Ferry, but lost a 7-5 quarterfinal
to eventual state placer Cody Coomes. Halko's season ended with a a one-point loss in the consolation bracket.

16th and 17th- SECTIONAL TOURNAMENT - Chip Halko (125) defeated two wrestlers he had never beaten, including a fall in the
quarterfinals. Chip lost a 21-16 shoot-out in the championship match, but advanced to the District for the second straight
year. Jeff Richardson (152) went 3-3 to finish in 6th, while Albert Rozman (103) and Ron Townsend (189) both earned a victory.
February 8th - Ready defeated Worthington Christian in a dual, but dropped the match-up with Bishop Hartley.
January
26th and 27th - Chip Halko runner-up finish led the charge at the Worthington Christian Invitational. Halko dominated his
way to the finals, recording two pins and a major decision. Albert Rozman (103) and Jeff Beatty (189) both earned 6th place
medals, while David Martello (130), Dave Dubiel (135) and Jeff Richardson (160) all won three matches.
January 13th
and 14th - Catholic Invitational Tournament (CIT) was a top-level tournament. Senior Chip Halko went 3-2, but failed to place
top 6. Sophomore Jeff Beatty, in his first action at 189, stunned the #5 seed in triple overtime, then went on to win another
by pin, finishing 2-2 on the day. Also recording victories were Albert Rozman (103), David Martello (130) and Ron Townsend
(215).
January 6th - Quad with Fairbanks and Ben Logan. Halko finished 2-1, while Martello (130) and Fridenmaker (160)
both won a match.
December 28th and 29th - In its 30th year (although many think it began around 1972) the Ready Winter
Classic is re-emerging as a quality tournament. The Knights led the 24 team field after round 2, but eventually slid to 8th
place at the end of the competition. Chip Halko finished 3rd at 125 with a dominating 14-3 decision over Krenes (Cincy Hills
Christian), who entered unbeaten. Albert Rozman (103) finished 5th a 103, while Rachel Lightner (103), Ryan McClincy (119)
and Ron Townsend (215) finished 6th. David Dubiel (140) and Jeff Richardson (160) were 7th, while David Martello (130), Shawn
Garrison (135), Josh Robinette (145) and Christian Mayer (152) were 8th.
December 22nd - New Albany Tournament was
set up in an interesting manner. In the individual portion, Ready was without Halko (injured), but saw Ron Townsend win the
B-pool and Ryan McClincy win the C-pool in their respective weight classes. Many other wrestlers won matches to place top
two in their pools. In the dual competition, the squad defeated both East and New Albany (B- team) in head-to-head matches.
December 16th - At Watterson Invitational, Ready finished 5th out of 12 teams with 110 points. Senior Chip Halko led
the way with a 3rd place finish, while Alex Kegelmeyer (103) finished 3rd. 4th place finishes were turned in by Albert Rozman
(103), David Dubiel (140) and Jeff Richardson (160). Ron Townsend (215) finished 5th and Rachel Lightner (112) earned a 6th.
December 12th - Meet at Grandview, with Hamilton Township and Cardington. Chip Halko led the way with two wins as
Ready dropped matches to Cardington and Grandview. Also winning matches were Alex Kegelmeyer (103), Abe Chiapetta (112), Ryan
McClincy (119), David Dubiel (140), David Martello (145) and Jeff Richardson (160).
December 9th - Chip Halko won
the 125 lb. class and the tournament "Outstanding Wrestler" Award at the Hamilton Township Classic. He had 3 pins in his pool
draw making it to the semifinals against Northland's Mike Austin. In the semi's he was down 8-4 with 20 seconds left. He escaped
and executed a four point move to win 9-8. In the finals, he drew returning State Qualifier Zach Sully from Van Wert. Down
7-0 in the second period, Halko stormed back to win the finals 12-8. David Martello (145) and Jeff Richardson (160) both finished
4th in their weights, while Ron Townsend (215) won two matches. Troy Gundelfinger (135), David Dubiel (140) and Josh Robinette
(152) all won one match.
December 6th - Varsity Wrestling took on Franklin Heights in a 7:00 PM home match! The result
was a 51 to 32 romp in favor of the Silver Knights. Ready won 10 of 14 matches, including pins by Jeff Richardson (160)
and Ron Townsend (215). Decision wins by Chip Halko (130), David Dubiel (140) and David Martello (145) was added to four other
Knight forfeits.
November 10 - Practice begins with 27 participants. The first day's workout was intense and physical.
Wrestle-offs are slated for the week after Thanksgiving in the wrestling room. They will be open to anyone who wants to check
out the program's progress.
October 27 - Good Youth and Middle School sign-ups, about 17 overall. We will have another
sign-up day for the Middle School football players, many of who had practice during the intial sessions.
October 26
- Preseason conditioning has been going well here on the Westside! Our numbers, once we get football kids (hopefully after
Thanksgiving) should be around 30 wrestlers.
October 9 - High school wrestlers' Parent Meeting TONIGHT at 6:00 in
room 215. The main point of discussion is the Aumni Social. Be there or be square.
October 7 - The Alumni Social is
one week away! Check blue type above for times and information. Boosters and fans are welcome, too! Come hear the plan of
attack and get acquanted with old friend.
September 22 - Information is now available for the Youth and Middle School
teams! Go to the "Youth" or "Middle School" links to the left for downloads and information. A big welcome to Aaron Badgley,
who comes on board as our head Middle School coach. He will be assisted by '06 grad Josh Saha.
September 17- Congrats
to Ready alumn Adam DiSabato! Adam was inducted into the Ohio State HOF today for his accomplishments as a Buckeye wrestler
(3x AA). Nice job, AD!
September 7- The Alumni Social is scheduled for October 14th, time to be determined as soon
as the OSU/Michigan State kickoff is announced. Stay tuned!
September 4- There has been excellent interest among the
student body, a large group is expected to take the mats this season. The varsity coaching staff is nearly finalized, with
a small change on the youth level. Brian Renner will be the head youth coach with Vince DiSabato involved as an assistant.
On the high school level, Michael Rodriguez will be helping on a part-time basis.
August 1- Fourteen parents and the
coaching staff met to discuss the fundraising plan for the school year. Expect more information regarding the "All-Sport"
t-shirt, yard signs, team poster and an Alumni Social/Meet-the-Team in September.
July 31- Coach Vince DiSabato will
help coach the Bishop Ready Youth Team beginning this winter. Coach DiSabato was a 2x State Champ at Ready and a 4x Starter
at Ohio State University at 118 lbs. Stay tuned this fall for more information regarding sign-ups.
July 28- The Ready
Technique Camp was a success with excellent technique sessions from a trio of DiSabato's (Dom, Adam and Vince), as well as
Coach Jim Benson (Bishop Watterson) and Coaches Nicola and Garver (Ready Staff). A small, but dedicated, group turned out
to drill strong leg attacks, nasty front-headlocks and solid mat wrestling. Expect a more expanded system in 2007, including
a youth camp.
